Home for Christmas

How about a Christmas card? I used this week's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for my starting point.

I wish you could see the glitter and shine but alas my photograph cannot capture
the beautiful shine. I glittered the snow laden tree, red ornaments and light
from the lantern using Stampin' Up dazzling diamonds and a Wink
of Stella glitter pen.
The image is from Stampin' Up "Home for Christmas".

I am also entering this at Merry Monday Christmas  where their
Challenge #120 is "Skiis, Skates or Sleds".
I love the sled against the door and would love to have one
of my own to decorate for Christmas---found one
at our local vintage/antique shop, hmmmm!

I embossed some snowflakes with Stampendous white embossing powder
which I also used for the inside sentiment along with a few more stamped
snowflakes.
I also was inspired by this beautiful picture at Festive Friday - doesn't
it just scream Christmas. I loved the pine trees and wreath and of
course the color palette.
I have a sweet spot for old trucks...wish I could have worked
that in as well, maybe another card?

I stamped the sled again,, coloring and fussy cutting so that
I could pop it up for some extra dimension.
I used foam dots to pop up the image as well after I cut around
it. I used re inkers as my coloring medium.

Hope you enjoyed my card half as much as I did making it and will
check out all of these great blogs and join me in starting
your own Christmas stash.

Beach Days Notes

Don't you just love these papers from The Beach House (found at Hobby Lobby -The Paper Studio)? I bought these in June while my friend Cec Wintonyk was visiting.
I showed Cec how I had created note pad covers in the past and fabulous
mind that she is --- she came up with the idea and measurements
for an inside pocket so that the pads could be replaced when
empty. Love this!!!!
You can find the one she created here , such a beautiful vintage
beauty which she gifted to me, surprise!

I stamped shells on a piece of the design paper and the sentiment using a GinaKDesigns set.
The beautiful background piece was straight from the pad.

The crackle finish was made using Wendy Vechi crackle
texture paste, so pretty!
I also covered the top of the note pad with
another piece of the design paper.

Here is the inside pocket- layered with design paper
stamped with a border of shells and an added
punched shell.

Thanks so much for stopping by - I hope you have a wonderful week.

Where, oh Where ????

.

Wow, two months with no posts! I have missed you all! Between spring cleaning, shooting sporting clays tournaments and a lack of mojo, I haven't been creating much! Thankfully due to a visit from my dear friend Cec, "CW Card Creations" , I may have a bit of my creativity back. We spent a wonderful week, shopping for craft items, sightseeing, cooking together and just plain chilling and I loved every minute of our time together. She was nice enough to come visit with me while Rick was on a bear hunt in Newfoundland, Canada. We joked that we did an even exchange- one American for one Canadian. As a side note, Rick saw 5 inches of snow on June 20th, our weather was much better. Just before Cec left I started coloring this beautiful image Gerbera Daisies from Power Poppy with Bic markers. Love how well these blend together. My card base is the standard 5.5 x 4.25 with a score line on the 5.5 side at 2.75. Love how this turned out.

The "Sunshine" papers from MME look so great with the daisies. I used various stamps from Teresa Collins Fabrications "Canvas" set---Loving that
big damask image.
The Bic markers also worked great for coloring the gems and satin ribbon for a perfect match to my flowers. Remember, Bic's are alcohol markers!

Cec brought me a beautiful ribbon bookmark as a gift which she made herself (using it and loving it, thanks friend) and as an extra gift, she showed me how she makes her charms for the book mark as
well as for her projects. We found great glass beads so that I could try making
them myself. No charms as of yet, but I did use some of the beads to create my stick pin for my card.

Glad to be back --- Hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend.

Graphics and Washi Tape....

Good morning, hope you are safe and sound wherever you are reading this.
We had thunderstorms and rain all night and it continues this morning-prayers
to those in the path of all of the tornadoes.

This is my card for Sketch #10 at Stamplorations.
They have two bi weekly sketch challenges each month
along with a themed challenge each month. I try to play in all of these each month, if you do you are put in the draw for a monthly prize. I was lucky enough to win in the random draw last month and received this great stash of washi tape which I used on my card.

I used a cut file of doodled borders from Silhouette which I turned into
a printed image--- I increased the size of my lines and turned them
black. I was able to angle them to match the sketch and then cut my
card stock which is Hibiscus Burst by Papertrey Ink...I then
added two of the tapes and pink gems by Want 2 Scrap.

This is a bit more of a graphic style then I usually do, but love
the way it turned out. It would be a quick set to
create....just change the sentiment.

Hope you will stop by and check out this fun challenge site....
I think you will love playing there as much as I do.

Have a good day!

Time to play along at one of my favorite challenge blogs, Stamplorations where the themed monthly challenge for April is "Stamps and your favorite Technique".

I love playing around with digital images in my designs and one of my new fave
things to do at the moment is a water colored background.

That is just how I created this card front, using Beccy's Place   images, "Poesy" and "Happy Birthday" which I laid out in my Cameo software and cut .
I went for a loose water colored effect on the flowers as well as the background with Distress Inks. This came together quickly and I love how it looks.
I added a few enamel dots by Stampin' Up.
This will also be entered in Beccy's April Challenge.

Be sure to stop by at both of these sites for a visit.

Thanks so much for stopping by.....Hugs......

Sketch #9- Stamplorations!

Happy Day, although it is a bit chilly here in Virginia, the sun is shining brightly.

I created this card to send to the Newsome family --for more information about Lauryn
and her fight against Leukemia...click here to see my post and to enter for my blog candy.

I am using the sketch for the first part of April at Stamplorations
They have two sketch challenges and a themed challenge each month.
Be sure to stop by for a visit.

I had been wanting to use this stamp cut file from Silhouette and couldn't believe my luck
when I saw the sketch. I pulled in the digital  "Wild Rose" image
from Doodle Pantry which I colored after cutting with Spectrum Noir
markers adding some stickles for shine.
Have you ever made a flat card, I hadn't until now but I purchased a set of flat cards and envelopes
by DCWV and found them while looking through my stash and the yellows were
perfect together as was the piece of mulberry paper I found.

Will try using these again in the future for a flat and easily sent mailed card.

Again I will remind you to check out my Card Drive post
for Lauryn, and if you would please keep this sweet 2 year old
in your prayers.

Hugs......

Card for Lauryn

I created this  flat card for a special young lady named Lauryn Newsome, a two year old that is in for a rough road ahead. She was diagnosed with Leukemia on
March 27th and while the doctor's have caught it early, she will be in the
hospital undergoing chemo treatments for the next 30-45 days at least.

She is the granddaughter of our dear friend Linda Payne whom many of you probably know in the stamping community. There will be a card drive next Monday, April 14th
where you can join a large group of like minded crafters in prayer and cards
for this family. There will be prizes, and lots of inspiration in the cards made
by this group. You can find more information at the blog created
for Lauryn Here  . I will have some blog candy for anyone leaving a comment
that you will send this sweet child a card or would like to make a donation.
I will try to post a picture of my candy later this week.
I have a Paypal button on my sidebar where you can donate.

My card is a double sided piece of textured card stock cut at 5.25 square.
I created a pocket for my tag with foam tape. Here you can see the tag removed.
My images are from Doodle Pantry "Critter Tops" and "Easter Peeps".

I added these soft felt flowers hoping she will love the way they feel.

Hope you can come back on Monday for the card drive.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

Precious Lauryn.....

Photo: Sweet baby girl was fast asleep last night around 10pm, which has been the earliest she's fallen asleep since being in the hospital. She did scoot around a lot on Thomas the train which is great but probably had a lot to do with her early bedtime. The goal is that the chemo and therapy will help her get back to walking󾬕

Lauryn is not much of a fan for the oral medications (& who can blame her) which she has to take six a day. They are trying to be creative with crushing some of the meds up and putting it into certain foods but she of course is catching on so that has become some what of a nightmare. The doctors did say that the chemo she is receiving will make her extremely hungry so she may gain quite a few pounds❤️

Today is day 3...so grateful she's got two tough days under her belt, let's pray today goes well!

Fight on Little Lauryn󾬕❤️

-Ashleigh

*I have to share one of my favorite pictures of her recently, it completes melts my heart❤️❤️*

This precious child is the granddaughter of our dear friend  Linda Payne . Her name is Lauryn and she was diagnosed last Thursday with Leukemia. She will be fighting this disease during the near future with Chemo and many days in the hospital. A hard road for this 2 year old.

A Facebook page with updates can be found Here .

We have put up a blog as well - Lots of Love for Lauryn where there will be a Card Drive blog hop on April 14, 2014. Lots of prizes are being donated and digital images will be for sale, so check back often.

There is also a donate button through Paypal were you can help the family with expenses.

This is a wonderful family with lots of faith in our Lord, please join us in prayers for them and this
sweet child.

Here is the lovely blog badge designed and donated by Nina Brackett  --- Please grab it and post on your blog to help us spread the word.
Thanks so very much.

Vintage Vogue and Violet

Hello all, sharing my card using Sketch #8 at Stamplorations

The background was made by stamping and 2nd generation stamping with SU's
Vintage Violet and flowers from Vintage Vogue.
I had a hexagon cut file that I cut the other day in Vintage Violet and it
worked beautifully with the sketch. I stamped a variety of
Thank you stamps- all Stampin' Up on my strips and added
champagne pearls from Want2Scrap.

I stamped two more of the flowers and a sentiment from Gifts
of Kindness on vanilla card stock for the inside.

Well, better get back to the laundry.....have a great week.

A Sweet Thank You....

Rick and I have a dear friend that loves to garden and share her bounty,
so I made these jar tags with her in mind. We have enjoyed
many fresh produce items as well as some of her canned
goodies, so I thought these would be perfect for her.

I used the new set Vegetable Garden as my starting point but also brought in images from Juicy Strawberry (color) and Blackberries . All at Doodle Pantry

I was able to use my Cameo to create these. I brought the images into the software, created my circles with a printed stitch line inside of that. Using the text tool, I made my lines for dates and her name.
All nine of my designs fit on one sheet of white card stock, printing and cutting these took only
a moment. I then took scraps of card stock that matched the colors and cut a slightly larger
circle for backing.

Using one of these clear pillow boxes I was able to fit all of the tags  into
it along with a bit of the raffia (sorry I took the pictures before adding that).
She will be able to either tape or glue these onto the jar lid (an exact fit) or she
can punch a hole and tie to the jar.
I turned the tags so you can see them from both sides of the pillow box.

The Doodle Pantry team is having a design team call until the 24th of March, check out all of the details Here . Also, don't forget this month's challenge is still going on until the 24th as well, you still have time to enter.

Thanks for stopping by....

With Sympathy....

I am trying to fill in the blanks in my card categories and needed
some of the dreaded sympathy cards, so neccesary
but the ones we hate to send out.

After stamping the poppy on the same mustard card stock that I used
for my second layer, I colored it with Spectrum Noir markers,
adding Want2Scrap gems for the center. I stamped
the image on ivory with Versafine Vintage Sepia and
after fussy cutting the colored flower, I used foam
dots to layer it over the image on the ivory die cut.
The butterfly is a die from Heartfelt Creations, I cut
another piece of the mustard card stock as well as
a dictionary page at the same time, using Rusty
Hinge distress ink to add some depth.

I used sketch #301 from Sketch Saturday  as my inspiration.

I am also entering this at Twisted Tuesday Challenges
 -
Don't go near the edge - the twist, use old book,
dictionary or script paper on your project.

I love how quickly this came together and may have to give this
design another go with different stamps.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit.
Happy Day!
