Christ's Love

Welcome to Wednesday and my post for Sweet Sketch Wednesday . As to the title for this week's post....Christ's Love is what I felt from you my friends here in blogland, at home and from the church this past week during my MIL's passing. I appreciate each and every one of you. Isn't this a beautiful image? It is called "Christ's Gift" and was created by Laurie Wilson at
Doodle Pantry who is our fabulous sponsor this week.

Here is a message from Laurie:
I am simply thrilled and so thankful to be able to sponsor Sweet Sketch Wednesday Challenge! We have a wide variety of whimsical characters as well as realistic scenery, floral images, scriptures and a small selection of digitally pre-coloured images. My digital doodles have a special place in my life, and I enjoy the opportunity to share them with everyone at affordable prices.”
As many of you may know, I am also on Laurie's creative team and love working with her images. If you are this week's Grand Prize winner, you will have the chance to choose 3 of her digital images for yourself. Please take time to check out the store and you will be sure to fall in love with her art.

I know you can't wait to see what this week's sketch by Arlana looks like, so here it is:

For my card this week, I used Stampin' Up card stock and design papers from Glitz.
I used Stampin' Up markers to color the image as well.

Be sure and stop by the SSW blog to check out what my talented team mates have for you this week and please be sure to leave a comment when entering your card so that you are in the running for our Grand Prize, can't wait to see your creations.
Happy day all!!!

Photo Time at Sugar Creek Hollow!

Welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow where this week we are going photo inspired! We ask that you choose a photo that inspires you and to post it with your creation for this week. The above photo is one that I took myself while on our bi annual shooting weekend in South Carolina. The club that we stay at is beautiful with ponds, wooded and open field areas and at some point in the long weekend, I love to take the golf cart around and look for photo opportunities. This was made one wonderfully warm March afternoon with the soft breeze blowing and the birds serenading. I will never forget the way I felt that beautiful afternoon.
For my card I used this gorgeous stamp from La Blanche that I bought because it reminded me of this picture, so when we received this challenge, I knew immediately what I would do, don't you just love it when that happens???

I hope that you will find a photo, either one that you have taken or just one that speaks to you and create something for us at Sugar Creek Hollow. We just ask that you create in vintage, shabby chic or primitive style and the rest is up to you. The winner will receive a digi of our choice and a badge to place on their blog. One project will also be chosen by the design team as Card of the Week, receiving a winner's badge and be placed in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot with the team.

On a personal note, to all of you that have emailed or left comments with condolences during this past week, thank you so much. Rick and I both appreciate you all so much. We are both doing well, just a very busy time for us. I am so grateful to have friends like you all, I will hopefully be back up to full steam and posting and visiting soon, until then I ask your understanding.
hugs....Patti

Wishing for Spring

Welcome to another wonderful Wednesday at Sweet Sketch Wednesday , but before we get into the details, I would like to thank each of you that has emailed me or posted a comment with your thoughts and prayers, Rick and I so appreciate it. Yesterday was a long, tough day but it also was filled with loads of love, from family and friends and we both are so blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives.

Now to the fun stuff on this week's challenge.....

Our sketch:

Isn't that great???? Our sponsor this week is the fabulous Bugaboo Stamps , Jodie is so generous with her fantastic designs and the Grand Prize winner this week with have their choice of 7 digital stamps, yeah!

My card uses her image "Daffodil Can" and I love my card this week (wink, even if I was the creator) as I love this gingham paper from Stampin' Up's retired Bella Rose collection, what will I do when it is gone? I added some red and yellow card stock to support my colors and a bit of paper piercing for added interest. I love the polka dot brad for my flower center, especially with the gingham flower. Hope you like it as well and it inspires you to give our sketch a try this week.

Be sure and check out the beautiful cards created this week by my team mates.
I hope to be back soon visiting and creating, thanks for bearing with me during this busy, trying time and again Love You All, thanks for being there!

The End of a Journey....

It is with both a sad and relieved heart that I post the passing of Rick's Mom, Polly.
After a very difficult week in which she became unable to eat or drink with her slipping into a coma, she has went on to a much better place.

While it is always hard to lose a loved one, we are happy that her suffering is at an end. I wish to think each of you that has lifted us up in prayer, not only at this time but during the past. The last 3 years of care giving were sometimes harder than Rick or I thought we could survive but you my dear friends kept me in your thoughts and prayers and we are now through this part of our journey.

I want to send my heartfelt thanks to each of you, I love you all!

Welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and a new challenge for you. This week we want you to use the following SKETCH with an added challenge....

Because we are a vintage, shabby chic and primitive challenge blog we discourage "cute" cards with "cute" images but this week we are going to let you pull out a cute image and want to see how you can turn it into one of the three styles we do want to see. You will notice that our designers have done just that with these adorable images from our new sponsor, Inked Treasures.

This week Inked Treasures will be providing 3 images from the Inked Treasures store as a prize for one random winner. That winner will also receive a winner's badge from Sugar Creek Hollow to display on her blog.
Thanks so much Inked Treasures for sponsoring us this week, be sure and stop by their store for a look around.

The Design Team will select one project as Card of the Week and that creator will receive a winner's badge and will be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.

For my card this week I used Stampin' Up's very vanilla along with beautiful design paper from the Glitz paper pack. I loved coloring this sweet image "Birthday Bella" with my prismacolor pencils adding just a bit of sparkle with my stardust pen. I layered the Martha Stewart vintage floral border which I punched on both sides with the doily punch by Stampin' Up and love the effect that it gave. Using felt leaves with Spellbinders rose creation dies, I love my flowers this week. Aren't those Making Memories brads so pretty as my centers? I hope you like my card and are inspired to create something with us this week.

Our designers have worked their magic to create some wonderful inspiration for you.  To get the details, just click on their name and you will be taken directly to their blog.

Butterflies....

I have  been so excited to show you this card for this week's challenge at Sweet Sketch Wednesday where we are being sponsored by the fabulous
Digi Stamp Boutique .I have wanted to use this fantastic set "Butterflies" for a while and finally I am getting to.
I used Prima's Sasha Collection design paper for my background and I love the mix of blues and greens. This set comes with a single butterfly and the set of two.  Don't you just love this variegated cotton thread that I found at Walmart, lol, this determined my color palette, sometimes it is just the smallest thing that sparks my direction with a card.

If you are the Grand Prize winner this week at SSW, then you will have your choice of 6 digital images from Digi Stamp and I know you will find lots you want in this fabulous store. In fact, why not go take a look around now?

Our sketch this week is one that I am sure you will love working with and we will love visiting with you and seeing your creations.

I know that we changed the rules a couple of weeks ago asking you to use one of sponsors images to play, we are relaxing that beginning this week. We would still love for you to support our wonderful sponsors and use one of their images if possible, but it is not required. We also would love to see our sketch posted on your blog post when entering, thanks so much for your understanding as we get this new phase all worked out....we appreciate each and everyone that joins us each week.

Now I wish you all a Happy Day and off you go to check out SSW......

A Masculine Valentine...

It's Saturday and that means time for another Sensational Saturday with a vintage, shabby chic, primitive theme for us at Sugar Creek Hollow where this week we are creating a masculine valentine. I made this one for Rick and I know he will love or at least tell me that he does, lol. He is the best and always so supportive of me, I am very blessed to have him as my husband.

My card is using the car and sentiment that is part of the "vintage auto" set from the Doodle Pantry and it is loaded with images and sentiments. There are additional matching sets that feature the images in color form and coordinating papers. Be sure and stop by as there is a 20% off sale going on at the moment. I colored this using Stampin' Up markers and a couple of copics.

One random winner will receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display. In addition, the Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week and the creator will receive a badge and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

Now you know that you need to create a card for that special someone....why not make it vintage and join us this week, the design team has created some beautiful, inspiring cards, so hop on over to SCH and take a look.

Hugs to you all and thanks for stopping by......I love to read your comments.

Cupcake!

Happy Friday everyone, hope you are all having a wonderful day and getting ready for a fantastic weekend! What do you think of my birthday card???  This is made with one of the new sets released this month by Doodle Pantry and there is still time to join us in our challenge. All you have to do is use a Doodle Pantry image and link up to our challenge and if you do not already own a DP image, Laurie has a freebie page just for you. You will receive this month's featured set "Cocoa Cup Ants" just for playing and if you decide you must purchase something (and I totally understand) then you will also be able to pick up the free with purchase set "Football and Helmet". Plus, if you use the coupon "luvmycustomers" between now and February 14th, you will receive 20% off of your order. Can you beat that?

For my card, I used Laurie's set "Cupcake Ants" which has outline and color images, along with sentiments, digital papers and candle images. My card uses one of the digital papers, I paper pieced the cupcake liner and then colored it with Prismas / oms and Stampin' Up markers. This is such a fun image and I needed to add to my birthday stash. I hope you will stop by Doodle Pantry and take a look around, the team is always creating something to inspire and I don't know how you can resist the wonderful sets for sale.

Thanks for taking a look at my post, I am hoping to get by later today and visit with you. I am in the midst of cataloging my stamps and reorganizing my studio. Just so much stuff and all over that it was dampening my mojo. If and when I get finished, I will post what I did.
Happy Day to all.

Flower Cart and TSB!

Happy Wednesday.....can you believe that next Tuesday will be Valentine's Day??? Where is this year running off to?

And because it is Wednesday, that means it is time for this week's sketch challenge at Sweet Sketch Wednesday . We are playing with a wonderful sketch this week by our own Arlana.

And our fabulous sponsor for this week's challenge is The Stamping Boutique where I have been a follower for a long time and fan of their beautiful images.
I posted for SSW this week and placed a bio for TSB if you would like to learn more about this fabulous company.

Tracy at TSB is giving the Grand Prize winner this week, their choice of 3 digital images.

For my card, I used the image "Flowercart". I love this image as you can use it for a Valentine's card or any other occasion throughout the year. I took my color palette from this fun paper pack that I picked up a couple of weeks ago from Martha Stewart. I hope you will join our challenge this week, if you do not already have any of the beautiful TSB images, please stop by the store and take a look around. Tracy is very generous with her freebies (hint, you might want to sign up for her newsletter and follow her blog).
Here is a peek at my inside and more of the fun paper.

Sharing a Gift....

Hi gang, just a quick post to share with you something that I created a couple of weeks ago for a friend of mine. She is always doing something good for me and I wanted to show her my appreciation. This is an easel calendar/notepad that I created using the wonderful calendar months that I picked up in a blog hop with the talented gals from Create with TLC . Paulette at TLC is always so generous with her art and creations and when we hopped we were able to see the wonderful inspiration from each of the design team and receive these beautiful digital stamps for each month. I have two of my dear friends on Paulette's team, Marsha at Stamping Down South and Carla at Carla's Stamping Spot . If you are not familiar with these ladies, please go by and say hello.

Here is another month:

For my base, I used a piece of GKD's chocolate cut at 6 by 11 and then I scored at 2 3/4 and 5 1/2 to create my easel part. I then cut a piece of textured plum Bazzil card stock for my easel front, mounting a piece of My Mind's Eye design paper which I had stamped with some flourishes from Inkadinkado. I loved that the design paper already had such a wonderful sentiment attached to it "You look lovely today". A satin bow and heart charm and the front was ready for each month. Each stamp is slightly different in size, so when putting them into word (where I was able to get 6 on each sheet of card stock) I made sure to size each of them the same width so that they would be consistent, even if the height was slightly different. I then cut them with the scalloped rectangle die and used pop dots to mount them onto another piece of the plum card stock.

I used my markers, distress inks, gems and stardust pen to color each of these. It was so much fun making this. I also stamped the same flourish onto a bag and then packaged all of the remaining months into it for her to keep them together until needed. The silver clip is easily changed as the first of each month comes around.

PS, I saw on Carla and Marsha's blogs that TLC will be having another blog hop on the 18th of this month, you don't want to miss it , as I am positive there will be lots more goodies to go around. Stop by TLC if you haven't lately.
Thanks for the visit.....now off  to watch the Super Bowl.
hugs....

Heading South....

Not me, just my card.....our challenge this week at Sugar Creek Hollowis to head south, that is to create a vintage, shabby chic or primitive card with a beach theme.

I have had these free vintage images and decided that this is the direction that I wanted to go with my card. The beautiful ocean scene is from Victorian Vignettes and the music piece was found on The Graphics Fairy . I simply layered these two on top of each other and then hand cut, afterwards distressing and sponging with distress inks. I have had this double sided ribbon for ages and it matches the hues in the image perfectly. The silver charm and sequin shells were a gift ages ago from Tracy, thanks so much.

One random winner will receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display. In addition, the Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week and the creator will receive a badge and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

I hope this sounds like a challenge you would love to take this week and you will start thinking about those beautiful days by the ocean and come up with your very own creation to show us at Sugar Creek Hollow, Please be sure to stop by to see what the rest of the team has for you.

Here's hoping you are having a wonderful weekend, thanks for stopping by!

New Release at Doodle Pantry!

It is my favorite time of the month.....release time at Doodle Pantry . It is when Laurie lets us show you all of the new goodness that she has created for you each month and we get to each choose a set to showcase. For me this month I couldn't wait to show you this one "Knocking"....it just touched me the moment that I saw it. I used some blue Rubber Cottage textured card stock for my base, layering a piece of brown that I ran through my Big Shot with a Tim Holtz weathered wood embossing folder. Since I see God knocking on our hearts I used the Spellbinders scalloped heart die. I hope you will all run over and take a look at what the team has created with all of the new sets being released today and remember that our next challenge will start today at noon. We have a fabulous new set as a free with purchase that is perfect for this time of year "Football and Helmets", so if you need a image to play along, don't forget to add this to your basket. And just for playing along....our free set this month (which won't be in the store until after the 24th of this month) is "Cocoa Ants". Now off you go to Doodle Pantry to check out all of the goodies waiting for you!! Enjoy.....

Thanks for stopping in to visit and if you missed my earlier post for SSW, just scroll down.
