Sketch 121 with Meljen's Designs

Happy Wednesday morning everyone and welcome to Sweet Sketch Wednesday's 121st sketch...I loved this one, but then I always say that don't I??? Well it is true, and you will love it as well.

Our sponsor this week is Meljen's Designs and our prize winner will get their choice of 4 of their fabulous designs. I know that you will find something that you love, take a look.

For my card this week, I am using Sleepy Time Bear and I decided to use these fun Basic Grey "offbeat" papers as my inspiration. I am happy with the way he turned out. That sweet sentiment is a freebie that I have had for a while, also by Meljen's. My coloring was done with my favorite Tim Holtz distress inks, are you tired of seeing them yet?  I added the stardust pen on my quilt to give it a little shine.Hope you like it and will be sure and stop by and see what the rest of the team has for you. I did this week's post and put some pictures of my stamping room up. If you follow me, you may have already seen these before, if so, sorry.

Take care and I haven't forgotten my post with my trip pictures, hope to do that soon.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Doodle Pantry Sweets

Well, it is Monday and I am overwhelmed....Rick and I have been away for several days and of course there is the over abundance of laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, etc that goes with coming home, especially it seems when you factor in my invalid MIL and getting things back in order after having someone else in your home (Rick's cousin is caregiver for us while we are gone). I still need to catch up with all of you and what you have been doing while I was away and to get some things done for the coming week. I did get this finished before we left and I wanted to post it today to show you what a great simple and fast thank you card that you can create with Doodle Pantry's set Peppermint . I also used Laurie's Minty Paper Pack.  I added the thank you sentiment from the Peppermint set and then cut with a Spellbinders die. I used Prismacolor pencils and oms to make the red on my mints and then added a star spica pen for some shine. I plan on making some more of these for my thank you cards this holiday season. As a child my Dad always had peppermints in the house at Christmas. It brings back lots of wonderful memories.

Be sure and stop by at Doodle Pantry store and take a peek at all of the new items released this month. I know that you will find something you want.

I hope to be back later on with some pictures from our trip. Take care for now and see you soon.

I am entering this at My Partner in Crafting Crime where the challenge is Sweets and Treats.....check it out!

Calling all Fancy Border lovers!!

Hey there my favorite people....hope you are ready for a great Saturday, but before you get into whatever it is that calls your name today I wanted to show you my card for this week's challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow where we are using fancy borders on our project. These can be used to frame your image, around the edges of your project or anywhere else on it that your creativity takes you. Doesn't that sound like fun???

We will be choosing a random winner who will receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display on her blog. In addition, the Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week (or shall we say Project of the Week) and the creator will receive a badge to display on her blog and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

We just ask you to keep in mind that we are a vintage/shabby chic/ retro blog when creating your card.

For my card today I have used the Spellbinders Fleur de lis dies and a Martha Stewart border punch "iron gate" which I punched 4 layers...2 in the double sided design paper and 2 in ivory. Don't you love the font in my sentiment which is from the Inkadinkado set "Friendship" and the floral from a new Fiskars set that I picked up cheap.

So off to the blog to check out what the others on the team have created and I hope you will join in our fun this week. I'll be looking for you.
Now to get some things done around the house....our temps were only in the 50's yesterday and not much warmer today...I'm loving it! Happy Day everyone.

Paper: Gina K Designs ivory, unk dark blue and dp from K&Co Driftwood
Ink: Stampin' Up Blue Bayou

Spooky Wreath!

How about a spooky wreath treat bag full of Snickers with almonds...my favorite candy bar at the moment.  I am posting  this goodie using one of the new sets released this month from Laurie and Doodle Pantry. You still have time to play along with our challenge this month and to take advantage of all of the specials. Just for playing along you will get one of the new release sets and be in the running for more prizes. Check it all out Here .

My sentiment and the wreath are both from the new set "Spooky Wreath"....see those cute bats lurking in the foliage and this is the only time that you will ever hear me call a bat cute! I used a treat box that I purchased a good while back from Stampin' Up....by the way they are on the clearance rack at SU now for 99 cents for 5.  The most time taken for this project was in cutting the wreath out by hand but I think that it was worth it. Hope you will stop by at Doodle Pantry and see what everyone else has been creating and jump on in yourself. All you need to do is use a DP image and if for some reason you don't already own one....well check out the freebies and try before you buy.
Thanks for stopping by.

A Day for Daises

Wednesday and that means it is time for Sweet Sketch Wednesday and this week we are being sponsored by the fabulous A Day for Daises . They are giving a gift certificate to the store worth $12.00 and I know you will find lots of images that you want if you are lucky enough to be the Grand Prize winner.

Our sketch this week #119 created by our own Arlana was so much fun to create with this week using ADFD's image Daisy Bird Bath.

I used some of my favorite design papers, Pink Paislee's Butterfly Garden and one of the butterflies from this collection. Don't you just love that satin chocolate chip ribbon by Stampin' Up, so rich.

I used a piece that I had trimmed from my front papers to accent the inside.

Now, thanks so much for stopping by but head on over to Sweet Sketch and take a look at the creations from the girls and then start creating your own sweet card for this week.
Now off to do some house work and Fall gardening, hope to be by and visit with everyone later on.

GD at Our Creative Corner

You probably don't remember but earlier this year one of my cards was selected to receive the Top Talent Award at Our Creative Corner and as the talent is unbelievable there, I was extremely honored.

In addition to the honor of their award I was also asked to be guest designer for this week. The theme is Wonderful Windows and is hosted by Holly Kean.
"Create a project that features a window cut out!"

I created this card using Spellbinders Labels 18 and stamps from Gina K Designs. I stamped my image and then off stamped a couple of times to get a lighter reflecting image. I cut the stamped piece and then mounted it to create a window pane effect. For the inside, I again off stamped the trees to give it a faded look and added a Christmas sentiment.

The challenges at Our Creative Corner are always exciting and fun and I enjoy joining them as much as I can....I hope that you will check out this great site and be inspired by their talented design team. Linda Couglin DT/OCC will also be joining us at Sugar Creek Hollow for our challenge this week as Guest Designer. I hope you will check out my card for that challenge as well and join in if you can. Be sure and check out my previous post this morning.

I couldn't decide what I wanted to do for this challenge so I created one other card and even though it is not posted at OCC, I wanted to give you a peek.

The window and flower pot is from a retired Stampin' Up set and that adorable bike is one that I just picked up by Kaisercraft. I love the brick embossing folder.

Now, hop on over to Our Creative Corner and take a look at the beautiful creations. And to the gang at OCC, thanks so much for asking me to be your guest designer this week! I am truly honored.

Sunflowers on Saturday!

As you drive around at this time of year you can't help but see lots of sunflowers growing in fields and gardens. It is always amazing that they can grow so tall with such big heads and not topple over. This week our Sensational Saturday challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow is to create a vintage, shabby chic or primitive card or other paper-crafted project featuring SUNFLOWERS in the main image.

This week we are fortunate to have a lovely sponsor with us.

You too can create cards and paper crafts like the Funkie Junkie.

Linda Coughlin, a.k.a The Funkie Junkie , loves using unusual frilly and funky items in her crafting. She has searched out or handmade the many delightful embellishments offered for sale in her Etsy boutique. Hand touched and personal attention to each and every order are hallmarks of her boutique. Linda warmly invites you to stop by for a browse.

We will be choosing a random winner who will receive a $15 gift certificate for The Funkie Junkie's Etsy boutique and a winner's badge from Sugar Creek Hollow to display on her blog.  In addition, the Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week (or shall we say Project of the Week) and the creator will receive a badge to display on her blog and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

Linda is also joining us as a Guest Designer and she and the Design Team have made some fabulous Sunflower cards. To get details on their projects, just click on each Designer's name and you will be taken directly to their blog.

I hope that you love sunflowers as much as I do and will play along with us this week. For my card I loved using my Spellbinder dies and designer paper for my background for the beautiful flowers which I stamped, hand cut and layered .... this sunflower stamp is from Gina K Designs set "A Year of Flowers". I hope you like it and will create something for us to see at Sugar Creek Hollow. I will be looking for you.

Hoping your weekend is wonderful and safe and full of all the things that you love. Take care!

Happy Labor Day weekend....hope that you all have a wonderful holiday planned if you are in the United States, and if you are not I hope that it is still a weekend full of all the things that you love and enjoy. So without further ado, let me say:

Welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and the
first monthly  TRASH TO VINTAGE
TREASURE
challenge.  We want you to make a project that
turns throw-away items into a vintage treasure.

For this challenge, off-cuts or scraps in your craft room do not qualify
- you can use them as part of the project but they are not to be
considered the throw-away items.  Instead we want you to take
everyday items that you would normally throw in the garbage or in your
recycling bin and turn them into something fabulous.  This is the
time to do your part for the environment and show us how green you can
be. By the way, please include photos of your throw-away items before
they are transformed in your blog post so we can see what your treasure
looked like when it was still trash.

As you probably thought when you first saw the picture above....that looks like trash. It is a very cheap frame that Rick had some pictures in that the back broke and was unrepairable. I started to pitch it and then thought that since it did have a real glass in it, that I might be able to use it someday....well with the new challenge of turning trash to treasure which we will have the first of every month, this was a perfect time to drag it out. And this is what I created:

I created a Christmas collage for myself that I know just the spot in our house that I want to set it. By taking a piece of card board and cutting it to fit the back and then gluing design paper on the front and back, I was able to create a base for my images. I heat embossed with black the door image and then colored using Tim Holtz distress inks. I love the way this turned out and will try it again on a card.
I made my own post card from a piece of cream card stock and drawing a line down the center. I love this ribbon from Stampin' Up and the jingle bells I have had for ions.
I apologize for the poor picture but I just could not get the glare off of the glass. I wish that I would have taken my picture before gluing the back to the frame but was afraid to try and take it back off as I was certain that my paper would not survive.
It is much prettier in real life, lol.

Please remember that we are a vintage challenge blog so your final
product must be of a vintage style.

We will be choosing a random winner who will receive a digi of our
choice and a winner's badge to display on her blog.  In addition,
the Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week (or shall we
say Project of the Week) and the creator will receive a badge to display
on her blog and will be in the running for a Guest Designer spot.

Our designers have created some wonderful projects for your
inspiration.  To get details and see what their throw-away items
are, just click on their names and you will be taken directly to their
blogs.

I hope that you will take our challenge this week and show us your trash!! And your created treasure of course. Can't wait to visit with you.
